Nominate a fellow member or New Zealand economist by 15 November 2024
It’s that time of year again. The New Zealand Association of Economists (NZAE) seeks nominations for awards to those who have made significant contributions to the Association, the economics profession in NZ, and the development & application of economics.
The awards are:
Life Member — to acknowledge current and past members for significant contributions towards the development of the Association, and of the economics profession in New Zealand.
Distinguished Fellow — to recognise distinguished New Zealand economists for sustained and outstanding contributions towards the development and application of economics.1
The NZAE welcomes nominations for these awards by 15 November 2024.
Nominate a Life Member
Nominations for life members need to be signed by two financial members of the NZAE, and include a brief profile of the nominee’s achievements, service and career. Nominations are considered by the NZAE Council, who will recommend suitable nominations to members at the Annual General Meeting for confirmation by that meeting. (The next AGM is expected to be held in June 2025.)

The NZAE has awarded life membership to 21 members.2
Nominate a Distinguished Fellow
Anyone can nominate a New Zealand economist for NZAE Distinguished Fellow. Nominations will be considered by a sub-committee of the NZAE Council, and those accepted will be presented to the full Council for ratification.
