Applications open for the Ed Hearnshaw environmental economics award🍋
$4000 for innovative or outstanding work on environmental economics; closes 5 July
NZIER, the New Zealand Institute of Economic Research, is delighted to announce the establishment of the NZIER Ed Hearnshaw environmental economics award. This award of $4000 has been inaugurated, organised, and underwritten by the Hearnshaw family and NZIER to recognise and encourage the advancement of environmental economics and its applications.1
The Award honours the memory of Ed Hearnshaw, a talented environmental economist who died in a tramping accident in 2020.
NZIER seeks applications from New Zealanders or those working in New Zealand who have produced innovative or outstanding work in the area of environmental economics. Nominations for the award are open to everyone. You can even nominate yourself.2
If you know an outstanding individual who would be a suitable candidate, please visit the award's page for further information or to submit your nomination.
Applications close 5 pm, Friday 5 July 2024.
The award replaces an essay competition with a similar purpose offered by the Hearnshaw family and GEN, the Government Economics Network.
It’s also fine by us if the nominee collaborates with a third-party nominator to complete the application.
