I would love to see a study of the costs, particularly the cost to taxpayer's of hire scooters in our larger cities where riders seem to zip along the pavement in the midst of pedestrians, helmetless and causing injury to themselves and others.

My own ebike has been invaluable in helping me retain some fitness.

Cycling isn't the issue; built form is the issue. We have evolved around cars, but we are also attempting to accommodate "our growing population". You can cycle in sprawl as well as density (as Christchurch did in the 1950's). The problem is that cycling comes bundled with density and density means apartment living, devoid of nature. The "if done well" will be a small percentage of the reality.
