Position vacant: Editor-in-chief, NZ Economic Papers

The New Zealand Association of Economists (NZAE) is seeking to appoint a new Editor-in-Chief of New Zealand Economic Papers (NZEP).
Published since 1966, NZEP is a B-ranked journal in the Australian Business Deans Council (ABDC) journal rankings. The journal is published by Taylor and Francis, under Routledge, with online submission facilities.
Aims and scope
NZEP publishes research of the highest quality from leading international scholars in all areas of economics. The journal also serves as an outlet for world class research on important economic and policy issues relevant to New Zealand, the Pacific, Australia, and Asia. The journal will consider survey and review articles related to the journal’s aims.
Position
Edit and produce three issues per year (min. of six papers each) of an academic journal.
Maintain the established tradition of economic scholarship whilst developing your own editorial policy. Any written policy must be approved by the NZAE Council.
Demonstrate commitment to the NZAE, including attendance at Council meetings and the annual conference. The Editor-in-Chief will report to the NZAE Council twice a year concerning the editorial duties and key journal statistics.
Ensure NZEP includes original research, notes, surveys, and policy analyses.
Maintain a fair, efficient, and rigorous refereeing process.
Appointment
The appointment is for three volumes (nine issues).
The successful applicant will start receiving manuscripts and transitioning into the role prior to the appointment start date (negotiable but likely to be early 2024).
The terms of appointment will be confirmed in writing by the NZAE President.
The agreement can be broken by either party upon giving six months’ notice in writing to the other party.
Stipend
The Editor receives a stipend of NZ$4,700 per year.

The NZAE Council has established a search committee, consisting of the current Editor-in-Chief, Associate Professor Dennis Wesselbaum (Otago University), Professor Gail Pacheco (AUT), and Professor Ananish Chaudhuri (Auckland University).
